About this Compound

MT2 (Melanotan II) is a cyclic lactam analog of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone, substantially more potent and stable than the native peptide. It is the foundational compound of melanocortin pigmentation research and the parent structure from which PT-141 was derived.

Proposed Mechanism

Non-selective agonism across melanocortin receptors; MC1R activation on melanocytes drives eumelanin synthesis in pigmentation models, with additional reported activity at MC3R/MC4R underlying its broader research profile.
